The rubber band-powered helicopter is easy to create, and with a little practice it can be flown 20+ feet!

Tips and Troubleshooting

If the helicopter isn't flying very high, then...

  • Make sure to wind up the rubber bands until it's "double-coiled."

  • Practice releasing the helicopter's propeller a moment before releasing the bottom of the helicopter. See the video for details.

  • The paper cutout may be too small, or not wide enough. Try using a larger cutout.
